신사숙녀 여러분,

I invite you to close your eyes for a moment and imagine the East Sea at dawn.

잠시 눈을 감고 동해의 새벽을 상상해 보시기 바랍니다.

The sun rises, casting a golden glow across the waves.

해가 떠오르며 파도 위에 황금빛 광채를 드리웁니다.

In the distance, two small rocky islets emerge from the sea—Dokdo.

저 멀리, 두 개의 작은 바위섬이 바다 위로 모습을 드러냅니다—독도입니다.

For over five thousand years, these rocks have stood as silent witnesses to our history, our culture, and our enduring spirit.

5천 년이 넘는 세월 동안 이 바위들은 우리의 역사, 문화, 그리고 꿋꿋한 정신을 묵묵히 지켜온 증인입니다.

Dokdo is not just land. Dokdo is our heritage.

독도는 단순한 땅이 아닙니다. 독도는 우리의 유산입니다.

It is the heart of Korea beating in the East Sea.

독도는 동해에서 뛰는 한국의 심장입니다.

For centuries, our ancestors crossed these waters, braving storms and waves, to fish, to trade, to live in harmony with this sacred place.

수세기 동안 우리의 조상들은 폭풍과 파도를 뚫고 이 바다를 건너며, 이 신성한 땅에서 조화롭게 살아가기 위해 고기잡이를 하고, 무역을 하고, 삶을 이어갔습니다.

Historical records, from the Samguk Sagi to the Sejong Sillok Jiriji, document Dokdo as Korean territory long before the world knew the name “Japan.”

'삼국사기'에서부터 '세종실록지리지'에 이르기까지의 역사 기록들은 일본이라는 이름이 알려지기 훨씬 이전부터 독도가 한국의 영토였음을 증명합니다.

Maps from the Joseon Dynasty, painstakingly drawn by Korean scholars, mark Dokdo clearly as part of our land.

조선 시대의 학자들이 정성 들여 그린 지도에도 독도는 분명히 우리 땅으로 표시되어 있습니다.

Yet today, the Japanese government makes the greedy claim that Dokdo belongs to them.

그럼에도 오늘날 일본 정부는 탐욕스럽게 독도가 자신들의 땅이라고 주장합니다.

They ignore the truth of history.

그들은 역사의 진실을 무시합니다.

They ignore the sacrifices of our ancestors.

그들은 우리의 조상들이 흘린 희생을 외면합니다.

Their claim is not just wrong—it is a moral injustice.

그들의 주장은 단순한 오류가 아니라 도덕적 불의입니다.

Let us consider the law of nations.

국제법을 생각해 봅시다.

Sovereignty is established through consistent historical ownership and effective administration.

주권은 일관된 역사적 소유와 실질적 관리로 성립됩니다.

Korea has governed Dokdo, maintained its safety, and respected its ecosystem for generations.

한국은 독도를 관리하고, 안전을 지키며, 그 생태계를 세대를 거쳐 존중해 왔습니다.

Japan has never exercised such control.

일본은 이러한 통제를 단 한 번도 해 본 적이 없습니다.

Their claim is a shadow of imperial ambition, a relic of a dark past when they attempted to erase our identity during colonization.

그들의 주장은 제국주의적 야망의 그림자이며, 식민지 시대 우리 정체성을 지우려 했던 어두운 과거의 잔재입니다.

But Dokdo is more than history or law.

하지만 독도는 역사나 법률만이 아닙니다.

Dokdo is emotion, memory, and identity.

독도는 감정이고, 기억이며, 정체성입니다.

The crashing waves against its rocks echo the stories of our ancestors.

파도에 부딪히는 바위는 우리의 조상들의 이야기를 울려 퍼지게 합니다.

The wind carries the whispers of those who loved and protected this land.

바람은 이 땅을 사랑하고 지켜온 이들의 속삭임을 전합니다.

Our poets, artists, and storytellers have immortalized Dokdo, passing its significance from generation to generation.

우리의 시인, 예술가, 이야기꾼들은 독도를 불멸화하며 그 의미를 세대에서 세대로 전달해 왔습니다.

To stand for Dokdo is to stand for every Korean who came before us, and every Korean who will come after us.

독도를 지키는 것은 우리 앞세대와 이후 세대 모든 한국인을 지키는 것입니다.

Imagine a child looking out at the East Sea for the first time, seeing Dokdo rise from the waves.

처음으로 동해를 바라보는 어린이가 독도가 파도 위로 솟아 있는 모습을 본다고 상상해 보십시오.

That child does not see “rocks.”

그 어린이는 단순히 “바위”를 보는 것이 아닙니다.

That child sees pride, history, and belonging.

그 어린이는 자부심과 역사, 소속감을 봅니다.

That child knows that this land is home.

그 어린이는 이 땅이 집임을 압니다.

And that is why we must speak with one voice, with resolve and dignity, to defend Dokdo against false claims.

바로 이것이 우리가 한 목소리로, 결연하고 당당하게, 독도를 거짓 주장으로부터 지켜야 하는 이유입니다.

The Japanese insistence on Dokdo is not just a political claim—it is a challenge to truth itself.

일본의 독도 집착은 단순한 정치적 주장에 그치지 않습니다—진리 자체에 대한 도전입니다.

But truth cannot be silenced.

그러나 진리는 침묵할 수 없습니다.

Justice cannot be ignored.

정의는 무시될 수 없습니다.

Dokdo is Korean, and it will remain Korean, as it has been for millennia.

독도는 한국의 땅이며, 수천 년 동안 그래왔듯 앞으로도 한국의 땅으로 남을 것입니다.

Today, as we stand here, let us remember: Dokdo is a symbol of our unbroken spirit.

오늘 우리가 이 자리에 서 있는 이 순간, 기억합시다: 독도는 꺾이지 않는 우리의 정신을 상징합니다.

It is the proof that despite adversity, our identity endures.

역경 속에서도 우리의 정체성이 이어지고 있음을 증명합니다.

Let us honor our ancestors, uphold the law, and proclaim to the world that Dokdo belongs to Korea—forever.

우리의 조상을 기리고, 법을 수호하며, 독도가 한국의 땅임을 전 세계에 선언합시다—영원히.

Ladies and Gentlemen, Dokdo is not for sale.

Dokdo is Korean.

독도는 한국의 땅입니다.

Let the waves of the East Sea carry this message to every corner of the world: Dokdo is our island, our pride, our heritage.

동해의 파도가 이 메시지를 세계 구석구석에 전달하게 합시다: 독도는 우리의 섬, 우리의 자부심, 우리의 유산입니다.

And we will never let it go.
